Why Nina Sordoni

The Court of Common Pleas is a trial court of general jurisdiction. Judges are elected to 10-year terms. There are 60 Pennsylvania Common Pleas Judicial Court Districts. Fifty-three are comprised of a single county, while seven districts contain two counties. The 44th Judicial District contains Wyoming and Sullivan Counties.

Judges of the Court of Common Pleas hear all major criminal and civil cases, appeals from District Courts, and matters involving children and parents. The Court of Common Pleas plays a crucial role in protecting our families and communities, meting out justice, and defending our constitutional rights and freedoms.

In December 2023, Governor Josh Shapiro signed legislation that granted Wyoming and Sullivan counties a second judge. The Honorable Russell Shurtleff is currently the President Judge for Wyoming and Sullivan counties. The second judgeship will be assigned to Family Court, handling divorce, custody, and support cases. This second judgeship will allow the court to expand services, potentially adding a Mental Health Court.

To be an effective judge, you need to be experienced, fair, and impartial. I am running for Judge because I believe that I have the necessary experience, values, and temperament to ensure that justice is served fairly and that rights are protected. The newly created judgeship will be assigned to Family Court. I have devoted my legal practice to protecting the rights of parents and children and have handled every type of family law case imaginable.

I believe that I am up to the challenge and ready to serve the people of Wyoming and Sullivan counties. I humbly ask for your support for Wyoming and Sullivan County Judge.
